Based on a research by Dr Ben Croxford in University College of London, it was estimated that a person who spend 20 minutes in the London Underground is equivalent in breathing in the same amount of particulate matter inhaled as smoking a cigarette. London Underground is used everyday by many of us, but we are not aware how it could affect us internally. Although Underground dust is not as harmful as smoking cigarettes but London Underground has never warn the users on the level of pollution in the Underground. Unlike Japan who established this vital information and be truthful to their users.

Korea, You're Beautiful is a campaign about plastic surgery in Korea.
More and more teenagers in Korea are getting face plastic surgery, this is because getting a plastic surgery done is as easy as going to a hair salon.

Through my research, I found out that it is a trend for parents to give plastic surgery as a gift to their children when they turn 21. It seems very absurd as through speaking with my Korean friend, it seems that Koreans are very traditional. Her family for example, she was not allowed to get her ear pierced and at whatever age she is, she will have to ask permission in everything she does to her body because her parents believe that her body is their body.

From this research, I created a campaign which is directed to Korean society. Demonstrating plastic surgery in a form of gifts in order to highlight the absurdity.

A series of 6 images were selected to convey this idea of marriage. During the conversation I had with them, one thing that is distinctive was the balance in their relationship - both characters were conscious when one should be the dominant or submissive. The balance of character is what defines marriage.

First slide: A book cover for an artist; Shinichi Maruyama.
I used his 'work in action' portraits to represent his book since most of his artwork are done through the actions of paints and brushes.

Second slide: An advertisement page layout designed for school magazines in order to advertise the event held by 'wongfuproduction'.

Third slide: Another advertisement layout which can be found in travel guide magazine - to promote the 5-star hotel in Abu Dhabi "The Yas Hotel".

Fourth slide: Intended for a photography publication, this page layout would be the template - a collection of different photographers' work will be displayed in this format through out the publication.

Using 'never ending' and 'continuous' as my inspiration, I created a never ending origami book, when unfold. the content will goes back to the start. A simple message "the end is where we start" is communicated through out the origami pages. When it unfolds the message is revealed and the action of unfolding and the continuity of the book described the word 'zero'

'What can you find under the sea?' An unknown environment that one is not familiar with. In a group of 3s, we created the image of what can be found underneath the sea by closely relate it with a specific quote taken from the movie 'Le Grand Bleu'

Quote:
"You go down to the bottom of the sea, where the water isn't even blue anymore, where the sky is only a memory and you float there, in the silence. And you stay there, and you decide, that you'll die for them. Only then do they start coming out."

align="center">A collection of sea creatures
<img src="http://payload28.cargocollective.com/1/6/206848/2878169/Picture 23.png" width="670" height="274" width_o="1115" height_o="456" src_o="http://payload28.cargocollective.com/1/6/206848/2878169/Picture 23_o.png" data-mid="14630696" border="0" align="left"/>
3 series of photographs (each series 1½ meter long) was produced to represent the idea of the unknown. By closely relating to the quote, we came to a conclusion that as one sinks down into the sea, one would like to stay down because of the creatures that greets you underneath. Instead of the mysterious-frightening sea monsters, they were represented very beautifully as we discovered 'bioluminescence' fish - fish that gives off lights in the dark for living.

A collaborative typographic project with Harriet Jowitt, where we manipulated the famous 'I have a dream' speech by Martin Luther King. we questioned the idea of will the speech be famous if Martin Luther King was not shot to death? By changing around the point size of each line, we managed to create the recognised speech unrecognised. The different point size created a blur between the importance and the unimportance in the speech.

Blinking is just as important as breathing. It is considered that every time we blink, a 'mini blackouts' is formed. Although this mini blackouts does not interupt our views of the world but if it adds up, we loss quite a lot of information in a day, month and year.

Experimentation 1:
3 blinking calendars were made based on a flipbook format. 30 or 31 (days in a month) alternating black and white papers were compiled to produce a calendar. The total minutes lost in that calendar month were revealed as the calendar is flipped from back to front.
<img src="http://payload28.cargocollective.com/1/6/206848/2878071/Picture 15.png" width="670" height="315" width_o="1195" height_o="563" src_o="http://payload28.cargocollective.com/1/6/206848/2878071/Picture 15_o.png" data-mid="14630097" border="0" align="left"/>
Experimentation 2:
Using one part of a famous speech - Martin Luther King, "I Have A Dream", the loss of information through blinking were illustrated by crossing out words when reading the speech.
<img src="http://payload28.cargocollective.com/1/6/206848/2878071/Picture 16.png" width="670" height="466" width_o="916" height_o="638" src_o="http://payload28.cargocollective.com/1/6/206848/2878071/Picture 16_o.png" data-mid="14630099" border="0" align="left"/>

<img src="http://payload28.cargocollective.com/1/6/206848/2878071/Picture 17.png" width="670" height="339" width_o="1189" height_o="602" src_o="http://payload28.cargocollective.com/1/6/206848/2878071/Picture 17_o.png" data-mid="14630101" border="0" align="left"/>
An audio was produced from Martin Luther King's "I Have A Dream" speech. Every two seconds of the speech, 0.3 seconds of the audio is erased (the blink) - to demonstrate the idea of an information loss.
The visual impact of blinking is translated into hearing to stress the image imperfection.

Secondhand books are considered as unwanted yet reusable objects which fits with the concept of recycling. Since books are made of papers and papers are from woods, unwanted secondhand books should therefore return to their original roots - Trees. To grow back a book in a tree illustrated the re-contextualisation of an Everyday object.

We are introduced to the essentials of typographic nuance and are challenged to create spreads that apply a 'voice' to a simple quotation.

A sequence of three spreads are made by experimenting with the scale of letters, the positive and negative space and challenged the idea of using texts to create images. For the sequencing method, a 'preview' of the next image is shown.
